After the Israelites heard the report on the exploration of Canaan from the twelve spies. That night all the people in the camp began weeping loudly. They complained against Moses and Aaron. “We 1)should have died in Egypt or somewhere out here in the desert.

Why is the Lord leading us into that land? We will 2)be killed with swords in battle. Our wives and children will 3)be captured as slaves. We would 4)be better off going back to Egypt."

They wailed. Then they said to one another, “Let's choose a leader and go back to Egypt” Moses and Aaron bowed to the ground 5)in front of all the Israelites.

Two of the men among those who had explored Canaan, Joshua and Caleb tore their clothes in sorrow and said to all the Israelites. “The land we explored is exceedingly good."
