Seven days later the flood water began to cover the earth. The rain kept falling for forty days and forty nights. It rained so much that the highest mountains were covered with water.
Everything living on the earth died. But God didn't forget Noah and the ark. So God made a wind blow across the water. The water began to go down. At last the ark landed on the Ararat Mountains and the earth was dried. God said, "You may all go out of the ark." So Noah, his family, and all the animals and birds came out of the ark. Then Noah built an altar where he could offer sacrifices to the Lord and worshipped God. Noah thanked Him for saving their lives. God was pleased with Noah and Put a rainbow in the sky. God said " This rain bow is a sign of my promise. I will never flood the earth again"

칠일 후 홍수가 지면을 덮기 시작했다. 비가 40주야를 내렸다. 비가 너무 많이 내려서 가장 높은 산들도 물로 뒤덮였다.
땅위에 살아있는 모든 것들이 죽었다. 그러나 하나님께서는 노아와 방주를 잊지 않으셨다. 그래서 하나님께서는 물위로 바람이 불게 하셨습니다. 물이 줄어들기 시작했다. 드디어 방주가 아라랏 산위에 내려앉았고 땅은 말랐다. 하나님께서는 너희 모두는 방주 밖으로 나가도 좋다고 말씀하셨습니다. 그래서 노아와 그의 가족 그리고 모든 동물들과 새들은 방주 밖으로 나왔다. 그 다음 노아는 하나님께 제물을 드릴 수 있는 제단을 쌓고 하나님께 경배를 드렸다. 노아는 그들의 생명을 구원해주신 하나님께 감사를 드렸다. 하나님은 노아로 인해 기쁘셨고 하늘에 무지개를 두셨다. 하나님께서는 “이 무지개는 내 약속의 표시이다. 나는 결코 다시는 세상을 홍수로 덮지 않을 것이다." 라고 말씀하셨다.
